It’s Christmas Eve! Tonight’s activity is a magical storytime with ’Twas the Night Before Christmas. Reading this classic poem is a wonderful tradition to end the countdown.

• A copy of ’Twas the Night Before Christmas (or another Christmas Eve story)

• Cosy pyjamas and blankets

• Optional: twinkling fairy lights or hot chocolate

1. Gather together in a cosy spot before bedtime.

2. Read the story aloud slowly, savouring the rhyme.

3. Point out illustrations if your book has them.

4. Talk about what’s happening in the story – the sleigh, the stockings, the reindeer.

5. Finish with a cuddle and wish each other goodnight.

Record yourself reading the story so children can listen to it again each Christmas Eve.
