Day 5: Create Snowflakes

Snowflakes are one of winter’s wonders, and today we’re going to make our own – no cold weather required! This craft is simple, magical, and lets children explore symmetry while creating pretty decorations.

✂️ What You’ll Need:

  • White paper (thin paper is easier to cut)

  • Scissors (child-safe)

  • Glue stick

  • String or thread for hanging

  • Glitter or sequins (optional for sparkle)

📝 Instructions:

1. Fold a square piece of paper into a triangle, and then fold again into a smaller triangle.

2. Cut small shapes along the folded edges – triangles, circles, or slits. Be careful not to cut all the way across.

3. Open up the paper to reveal a snowflake!

4. Add glue and glitter for sparkle if you’d like.

5. Attach string and hang them in the window for a frosty effect.

🌟 Extra Idea:

Make a whole flurry of snowflakes and turn them into a hanging mobile.

Tomorrow you’ll need:

A Christmas storybook (e.g. The Snowman), a cosy blanket, hot chocolate (optional).
